White Dapperling

This all white beauty is not for the novice forager as it has some extremely dangerous look-a-likes! A rule of thumb for the novice forager is to avoid all mushrooms with WHITE GILLS as many of the highly poisonous ones have them. (The deadly Amanita species Deathcap and Destroying Angel have white gills.)
This mushroom here however, The White Dapperling, is a perfectly edible mushroom. Though until you’re very familiar with it and it’s poisonous look-a-likes it’s best to keep off your plate.

Typically found in established grassland, normally in large groups from June through to October.

Scientific Name: Leucoagaricus leucothites

Happy foraging!
