Water Mint!
One of my favourite plants! It has such a distinctive and unique menthol taste and smell to it, that is simply divine.
I’m lucky enough to have an abundance of this beauty growing in my local woods. I’ve got a love for water mint tea and have it brewing on the hob on a near continuous cycle.
It also makes a fine tobacco substitute! Water mint and mullein are a match made in heaven when it comes to a herbal smoke. When smoked, mint has been studied to calm the nerves, optimise blood flow and increase lung capacity.
When quitting tobacco, smoking mint is a brilliant tool to help calms the nerves, and help you remain calm while you’re in the beginning stages of quitting nicotine which can be rather stressful.
You will find the early shoots in early spring and now in September they have gone to flower. The potency of the flavour changes though-out the year being at it’s strongest in Spring.
Scientific name: Mentha Aquatica
