Dandelion honey

Dandelions are often thought of as a pesky weed, but did you know that they can be turned into a delicious honey-like syrup? This sweet and flavourful syrup is a great alternative to traditional honey, and it’s super easy to make at home.

🌼 Did you know that you can make honey from dandelions? This simple recipe only requires three ingredients and is a great way to use this common weed.

🌿 To make dandelion honey, you’ll need 2 cups of dandelion blossoms, 2 cups of water, and 2 cups of sugar.

🍯 Start by removing the yellow petals from the dandelion flowers, and discard the green parts. Put the petals into a large pot with the water and bring the mixture to a boil.

🌸 Reduce the heat and let the mixture simmer for about 30 minutes, or until the petals have lost their color and the liquid has reduced by half.

🍃 Next, strain the liquid through a cheesecloth or fine-mesh strainer, making sure to squeeze out all the liquid. Discard the petals.

🌼 Return the liquid to the pot and add the sugar. Bring the mixture to a boil, stirring constantly, and let it simmer for about 10-15 minutes, or until it thickens and turns a golden brown color.

🍯 Once the mixture has thickened, remove it from the heat and let it cool. Pour it into a jar or bottle and store it in the fridge.

👉 Use dandelion honey just like regular honey – it’s great on toast, in tea, or as a sweetener in baking. And best of all, it’s a great way to use a common weed that’s often overlooked.
