Oregano/Wild Marjoram
Now, many of you will be very well familiarised with the herb Oregano. We often associate it with pasta and pizza and therefore Italy. But, did you know that our Oregano is native to these lands here in the UK?!
Oregano is found knocking about as early as spring and the leaves are packed with flavour when in the early shoot stage. It’s still going strong up until September, so there is a big window of opportunity to forage some fresh oregano over the year. It’s very easy to dry out to store for all your winter cooking too.
It’s such a gorgeous herb, especially when in full bloom and gives off such a beautiful aroma. The wild life love it which makes another great reason to plant some in your garden, if you are lucky enough to have one.
Happy foraging!!
Scientific name: Origanum vulgare
