Dead man’s fingers!
What and interesting looking mushroom!
On my woodland patrol yesterday I stumbled across these little beauty’s, waving me over from a distance.
This is the first post that I’ve put up of something that is questionable whether or not it’s edible. Moving forward I will sometimes post some plants and fungi that have points of interest but are not necessarily edible.
In traditional Indian medicine, this fungus is used dried, powdered and mixed with sugar to promote lactation after childbirth.
Most of the sources I’ve read say not to eat this mushroom. Although some sources suggest that this mushroom is edible and people report having eaten the mushroom for years.
Do your own research on all things in life and make informed personal decisions.
Scientific name: Xylaria polymorpha
Happy foraging!
