Wild Carrot

Wild Carrot 🥕🥕🥕🥕
Such a beautiful plant to look at, smell, taste and touch! It’s got it all. All parts of this medicinal plant are edible and has been used as medicine for hundreds of years.

Wild carrot is a wonderfully aromatic herb that acts as a diuretic, soothes the digestive tract and stimulates the uterus. A superb cleansing medicinal, it supports the liver, stimulates the flow of urine and the removal of waste by the kidneys.

There are some not so pleasant look a likes to wild carrot, so be sure with your identification. Some things to look out for is the dark red flower in the middle of the umbel white flower head, though not always present. Hairy steam and forked leaf bracts under the flowers. Strong smell of carrot from the root.

It loves to grow by the coast and is so abundant at my local beach. It has been known to make its way inland and bless the countryside with its presence.

Scientific name: Daucus carota

Happy foraging!! 👨‍🌾
