Pineapple Weed

Introducing… Pineapple Weed! šŸ
The sweetest smelling weed about! They really do smell just like pineapple! A sweet tangy pineapple taste too.
The leaves and flowers can be eaten. I like to grab a handful and just breathe it in as I’m walking before munching them down. It also makes a lovely cuppa!

Originally from Asia, pineapple weed was introduced as a garden plant in the UK in the 18th century. It went on to become one of the fastest spreading plants in the British Isles ever since.

Pineapple weed has been used for medicinal purposes to treat sores, fevers and digestive upsets.

You will find it everywhere from curb sides to rural footpaths. Next time you see it, give it a good old sniff and a nibble!

Scientific name: Matricaria discoidea

Happy foraging!!
