Sheep Sorrel

Red sorrel aka sheep sorrel is another tasty treat. All of the sorrels have such a delicious sharp flavour.

Red sorrel is not as common as other sorrels.
It’s best to harvest the leaves before it flowers, as they will be more succulent.

You will find it growing in all types of grassland and even woodlands.

If you find some in flower now, note the spot for the spring leaves next year! Though it’s still great to have a nibble on now.

Red sorrel has been historically used to treat inflammation, scurvy, cancer, and diarrhea.

Scientific name: Rumex acetosella

Happy foraging!!
