Ribwort Plantain

Look who it is, it’s Ribwort Plantain!

Ribwort Plantain has been used in herbal medicine as an antibiotic, antihistamine, styptic, hemostatic and astirngent. It’s has also been used to treat chest and eye conditions, constipation and much more including being great for insect bites and nettle stings.

Collect the flower buds after they turn brown but before they become dry and you will be hit with a pleasant and unusual mushroom flavour! The leaves can be made into a medicinal tea but are quite bitter if you were to eat raw in a salad.

If you find soil you are in for a chance of finding Ribwort plantain!
